Ed Pearl Barth is a creative technologist, zine writer, and video artist in Milwaukee, WI. They study Book Arts & Printmaking and Creative Technologies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee going for a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art. They are interested in Graphic design and coding; they also enjoy making artwork out of found objects like sculptures and books. Their work explores possibilities outside of the binary of code and gender using Arduino microcontrollers, interactive interface computer software, hand-made electronics and projections. Their work builds on the discoveries of avant-guard musicians like John Cale and Annea Lockwood in the field of sound and material. Their interactive sculptures were featured in Art & Tech Night 2024 and 2025 (Kenilworth Gallery), and Ceci est une pipe: Pipelines from Z through X (Real Tinsel, Milwaukee). They have appeared in zine publications across the Midwest such as Moody (Issue 14, Milwaukee), Chicken Salad (Issue 1, Chicago), and Dike Stynk (Issue 3, Chicago). Most notable is their very own publication Squire Inquire (issues 1-5, Milwaukee) archived UWM’s Special Collections, in which they have interviewed popular bands such as The Lemon Twigs (NYC) and Horse Girl (CHI). They are currently working as a graphic designer at UWM’s First-Generation+ Resource Center, and they plan to continue their work as a designer and working artist as a part of The Universe art collective (MKE/STL) upon graduation.
